Heat wave hits Borderland, Southwest starting Wednesday
EL PASO, Texas — The Borderland and much of the Southwest will experience a heat wave with the potential for record-breaking temperatures starting Wednesday.
The National Weather Service predicts hot weather from El Paso to Albuquerque to Phoenix and Las Vegas on Wednesday and Thursday.
In El Paso, ABC-7 chief meteorologist 'Doppler' Dave Speelman is forecasting high temperatures in the upper 90s for Wednesday and Thursday, but shy of the respective 102 and 103 degree records for each day.
Albuquerque’s high temperatures will go from the 80s on Tuesday to the 90s on Wednesday, while Las Vegas will see triple-digits.
In parts of Arizona, the temperature on Wednesday could reach 109 degrees and hit 112 the following day.
The National Weather Service indicated some heat records may be broken or tied.
