Pair arrested for gang-related stabbing in El Paso’s Lower Valley that wounded 2
EL PASO, Texas -- A pair of men with gang affiliations were arrested following a weekend fight at a Lower Valley home that ended with two other men being stabbed and seriously wounded, authorities said Wednesday.
Police indicated 30-year-old Gustavo Manzo of Horizon City, and 29-year-old Jose Melendez of El Paso were booked into the downtown jail on two counts each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The charges stemmed from a dispute about 2 p.m. Sunday at a home in 8100 block of Lomita Drive near Lomaland Drive.
"A fight ensued with the home owner and several persons inside. The altercation continued outside which eventually led to Melendez pointing a shotgun at the three victims. A struggle followed which resulted in the 43 and 37-year old victims being stabbed with a knife by Manzo," said El Paso police Det. Diane Mack.'
The names of the two stabbings victims were not released, but police said the 43-year-old remained hospitalized Wednesday with life-threatening injuries; the other victim has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
