Anti-abortion protesters optimistic at March for Life in DC

WASHINGTON (AP) — Speakers at the annual anti-abortion rally in Washington say there’s a growing sense of optimism that their long-sought goal of a sweeping rollback of abortion rights in America is finally in reach. Thousands marched to the Supreme Court on Friday, a day before the 49th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade ruling that affirmed the constitutional right to an abortion. Today’s court has indicated it will allow states to impose tighter restrictions on abortion with a ruling in the coming months, and possibly overturn Roe. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris say the right established under Roe “is under assault as never before” and they’re committed “to ensuring that this country is not pushed backwards on women’s equality.”
