New ‘Thriller 40’ Documentary will go behind the scenes of Michael Jackson’s Legendary 1982 Album
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- 40 years after Michael Jackson's "Thriller" redefined pop music, the documentary "Thriller 40" looks at how it was made and what it meant.
The documentary on one of the best-selling albums of all time features never-before-seen footage, and interviews with Usher, Mary J. Blige, Will. i. am. Mark Ronson, and more.
The trailer showcases the album’s production process, the music videos, the Moonwalk (which Jackson debuted at 1983’s Motown 25 special) and the eventual world domination of the project.
Released Nov. 30, 1982, "Thriller", Jackson’s sixth studio album spawned seven top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 including two No. 1s: “Beat It” and “Billie Jean.” In addition to winning eight Grammys, the album has been RIAA certified 34 times platinum and amassed more than 100 million in sales worldwide, making it the biggest-selling album globally of all time.
"Thriller 40" debuts December 2nd at 8 p.m. ET on Showtime and will stream on Paramount+.
