El Paso hospitals ready to treat coronavirus
EL PASO, Texas - With the news of a second confirmed case of coronavirus in the United States, local medical experts are confident they are ready to treat this virus if someone in the Sun City contracts it.
The Coronavirus has claimed at least 41 lives, all of them in China. The spread of the virus has continued to expand and is now reaching at least 11 countries including the United States. None of the cases in the U.S. have been fatal, however concern still looms as one Baylor student and one Texas A&M student are currently under quarantine with fears they may have contracted the virus.
In El Paso, Del Sol Medical center believes they are capable of providing care for anyone who contracts the virus.
"Del Sol Medical center is a level two trauma center and we have a variety of patients that come in on a regular basis it just depends what comes towards our facility we work hand in hand with other facilities so if we do see an influx we will be able to take care of that" Minisha Morris the Interim Director of Infection Control said.
The spread of the virus has been so contagious that the patients that have been hospitalized have been treated in isolation and left in quarantine. The symptoms of the virus are similar in nature to the flu, doctors recommend seeing a physician quickly the moment you develop symptoms.
