Texas Schools Working To Reassure College Campuses Of Safety
DALLAS (AP) – University officials around Texas are wirjubg to reassure students, faculty and staff of their safety on campus. That’s after the Virginia Tech massacre that left 33 people dead on Monday.
Southern Methodist University us the apparent winner in the competition to house the George W. Bush’s presidential library. SMU, Texas Tech University and the University of Texas say they’ve conducted training for shooting scenarios.
Most schools say they’d use a mix of bulk e-mail, voicemail, the university Web site and local media to issue warnings in case of an emergency. Today, the president of the University of Texas-Pan American asked the school’s vice presidents to review the campus its emergency management procedures.
The University of Texas at El Paso, U-T in Austin and Texas Tech say the campuses regularly review and update their safety procedures.
