EL PASO, Tx. - Police arrest a teen in the accidental shooting death of Chapin High student in late March.

El Paso Police Spokesman Javier Sambrano confirmed to ABC-7 that the 18-year-old suspect was arrested Thursday, after he turned himself in to EPPD officials.

Police say the man didn't own the gun, instead he got it from a mutual friend whose father owned the gun.

Officials tell ABC-7 because the suspect gave that gun to another person, that he's facing the charge of Unlawful Transfer of a Handgun.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, the gun owner's son told police the suspect wanted it to rob drug dealers.

According to police on March 31st, the other person was returning the gun to his room when it somehow went off, killing him.
