Jury Returns Guilty Verdict For Andavazo
EL PASO, TX — Jurors in the 205th District Court have found Dolores Andavazo guilty of murder in the 2005 stabbing death of her brother, Ramon.
Defense attorneys had argued that Andavazo stabbed her brother during a fight, butit was in self-defense.They alleged the man had kicked and punched Andavazo, andthey put the accused’s daughter on the standto support their argument.
The prosecution countered with details of a police report thatindicated Andavazo’s daughter had not actually seen the stabbing.
The punishment phase of the trial will start on Wednesday morning. Andavazo faces prison time ranging from 5 to 99 years.
