Police Arrest Men For Firing Weapons Within City Limits
LAS CRUCES – Police arrested on Monday arrested two men who allegedlywere firing weapons within city limits early in the morning.
Mikael Johnson, 29, of the 5200 block of Stagecoach Lane, and Christopher Brock, 25, of the 3800 block of Ricker Court, were arrested at around 4 a.m. after a brief pursuit, officers said in the police report.
Officers said they received a call at around 3:20 a.m. from residents on the East Mesa near Aldrich Road who reported theyheard several shots fired. Officers said when they tried to stop Johnson and Brock, they were riding off in a 2006 GMC pickup truck. Officers said theywere able to stop and apprehend the pair.
Johnson and Brock may have fired several rounds from two handguns and an assault rifle, police said.The three weapons were discovered in the pickup along with several rounds of ammunition, authorities said.
Johnson and Brock were each charged with one count of negligent use of a deadly weapon. Brock was also charged with one count of resisting or obstructing. Investigators took Johnson to the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $1,000 bond.
Brock’s bond was also booked into that facility. His bond is set at $1,500.
