Border Personnel To Expand DCL Service

EL PASO – U.S. Customs and Border Protection will temporarily expand service hours at the city’s dedicated commuter lanes as of Saturday, Nov. 10.

Authorities said the service will be in place 24 hours a day at the Ysleta crossing and until midnight daily at the Stanton Street crossing, and the expanded service hours will be in place for at least 90 days.

“The expanded level of service will make an already beneficial program even more attractive for frequent border crossers seeking an expedited entry,” said Luis Garcia, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Director of Field Operations in El Paso. “There is no reason for anyone who meets the program requirements to wait in line at the international ports of entry in El Paso.”

“The DCL program in El Paso is currently under utilized. We want to see more people enroll in the program,” Garcia said. “CBP will closely monitor DCL usage during this period of expanded service to determine if the additional service should be maintained in the future.”

Approximately 21,000 people are currently enrolled in the local program which allows access on the two dedicated commuter lanes.
