Texas Retail Gasoline Prices Jump To $2.94

HOUSTON, TX.(AP) – Retail gasoline prices jumped 14 cents this week across the state to an average $2.94 per gallon, AAA Texas reported Friday.

Record crude prices have pushed gasoline costs higher across the country. The national average rose to $3.06 per gallon, or 15 cents higher than one week ago. Texas gasoline prices have gone up four straight weeks.

The Houston area has the cheapest gasoline this week, at $2.86 per gallon, according to AAA Texas. Amarillo was on the high end, at $3.07 per gallon. Association spokesman Paul Flaningan says it’s not good news for motorists.

“Retail gasoline prices are poised to climb even higher in the weeks ahead as we enter the Thanksgiving holiday shopping and travel seasons,” Flaningan said.
