State Rep. From Las Cruces To Run For Pearce’s Seat
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) – State Representative Joseph Cervantes is making a bid for the Democratic nomination for New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District post.
The Las Cruces attorney announced his candidacy yesterday in his home town.
Republican Steve Pearce is giving up the 2nd District seat to campaign for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.
Congresswoman Heather Wilson of New Mexico’s 1st District also wants the Republican nomination for the Senate seat.
Six-term Republican Senator Pete Domenici will retire in January 2009 because of an incurable brain disease.
