Man Killed In Industrial Accident At Las Cruces Recycling Center

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Authorities on Saturday identified the man who was killed in an work-related accident ata recycling center.

Jim Clark, 49,was inside the hopper of the baler on Friday, trying to clear a jam, police said. The machine started up for some unknown reason, killing Clark.

A medical investigator pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police say Clark was working at the recycling center through an employment agency.

The South Central Solid Waste Transfer and Recycling Facility was closed to the public after the accident, but the city’s solid waste collectionsremained open.

The Las Cruces Fire Department’s technical rescue team was called in to remove Clark’s body from the hopper.
