Thousands Attend Thanksgiving Parade

EL PASO, TX – Sun Bowl Parade officials estimate about 250,000 people attended Thursday’s Thanksgiving parade.

The theme for this year’s parade was “Childhood Memories.” The theme made for a morning full of family time. Many people braved the low temperatures and bundled up to see the parade.

All were treated to mariachis, horses with carriages and high school bands, among other surprises. Some said the parade was a celebration of giving and thanking God for everything they have.

“I’m thankful for my family, thankful for having a job and thankful for having a home. My brother is in Iraq so I’m thankful for his service,” said a person at the parade.

Some other attendees echoed the same sentiment. They were at the parade to pay tribute to those that have served our country. “I want to see the soldiers and pay tribute to them. I know a lot of service men and women are out in Iraq and they are sacrificing for us,” said one.

“I wasn’t expecting it to be this cold, but it’s neat. I wanted to see everyone, the floats, the soldiers, the bands,” said one attendee.
