Arrest Affidavit Reveals New Details Of Child’s Death

EL PASO — ABC 7 has obtained new informationas towhat happened minutes beforelocal policefound the body of a three-year-old girl in the trunk of a car.

In custody are the victim’s mother, Yara Perez, and her stepfather, Francisco Castaneda. Both are 25.Detectiveshavecharged them with causing injury to a child leading to serious bodily injury.

Perez’s arrest affidavit indicatespolice went to the couple’s apartment, at 625 Yarbrough, around 11 p.m. Monday.

Officers said they receivedthe call from someone concerned about the victim,Jacqueline Gonzalez.

The arrest affidavit indicated the reporting party”was concerned over the fact that she had received a call” –from Perez — “at9 p.m. stating something was wrong with the victim because she had fallen.”

The same complainant told police “she had seen the victim face up and motionless, on the floor of the apartment,” the affidavit read.

Police say they ended up finding the toddler in the trunk of a car,owned by the victim’s mother.
