Police Search For Sexual Assault Suspect
EL PASO — Las Cruces police and the Fugitive Violent Offender Task Force are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault of a minor.
Police are looking for 43-year-old Armando Orta whose last known address was the 2700 block of Watson Lane in Mesilla Park, N.M. Orta has a warrant out for his arrest in connection with a case involving criminal sexual penetration of a minor, officers said.
Orta is Hispanic, six-feet tall and weighs around 200 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and has a scar on his left arm from his shoulder to the elbow. Orta may be driving a teal-blue, or turquoise, 1997 GMC Sierra pickup with a removable chrome-colored tool box. The vehicle’s New Mexico license plate number is JRF-317, police said.
