Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Two Slayings In Hobbs
LOVINGTON, N.M. (AP) – A Hobbs man has been sentenced to two terms of life in prison plus 19 years for the shooting deaths of two men.
State District Judge Don Maddox on Monday ordered 29-year-old Robert Guerin to serve the sentences consecutively.
The Hobbs News-Sun reports Guerin is facing at least 79 years behind bars. A state district court jury on Jan. 18 convicted Guerin of two counts of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted murder.
Authorities say 24-year-old Joshua Hunter and 34-year-old Carl Morley were killed March 10, 2006, at a Hobbs elementary school in a drug deal that turned sour.
