Alamogordo Soldier Killed In Iraq

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) – An Alamogordo soldier was among four soldiers recently killed in Iraq.

The U.S. Department of Defense announced on Tuesday the death of 34-year-old Army Sgt. Gary D. Willett.

Willett died Friday in Taji, Iraq, of wounds he suffered when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.

Willett was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Spc. Michael T. Manibog of Alameda, Calif; Sgt. Timothy P. Martin of Pixley, Calif; and Staff Sgt. Jerald A. Whisenhunt of Orrick, Mo., also were killed.
