Two Men Severely Burned At Construction Site With Roofing Tar

EL PASO — El Paso fire crews responded to the 1000-block of South El Paso St. late Tuesday morning after calls of two men burned at a construction site were received.

Officials said the accident involving hot roofing tar left one man blinded and both suffered additional burns to the face, neck and hands. The man blinded was brought down by an aerial basket and ladder.

Both men were initially taken to R.E. Thomason Hospital and then later transported to the Lubbock Burn Center. Officials are still investigating the cause of the accident with the construction safety personnel.

There were no injuries to firefighters.
