Fmr. City Council Member Telles Pleads Guilty To Conspiracy Charges
EL PASO — El Paso attorney and former City Council member Raymond Telles, 51, has pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud and the deprivation of honest services.
Telles pleaded guilty for his part in a scheme to defraud the Socorro Independent School District. Additionally, Telles admits in one count, to trying to bribe members of SISD’s school board of trustees.
The U.S. Attorney’s office added that in another count,Telles admits to trying to bribe members of the El Paso County Commissioner’s court.
Telles could be sentenced to 40 years in prison and ordered to pay $500,000 in fines.
