Officer Arrested After Domestic Dispute

LAS CRUCES — Police have arrested a patrol officer trainee after investigating an early-morning domestic incident that occurred on the 1500 block of Durazno Drive.

Andrew D. Scribner, 25, an officer trainee, was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday.Scribner was not on duty at the time of the incident. Scribner has been charged with one count of battery against a household member and one count of assault against a household member. He was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $1,000.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Durazno Drive at around 1:30a.m. after Scribner’s wife called 911 to report that her husband was physically assaulting her. Information obtained from interviews with the victim and physical evidence led police to charge Scribner with the two counts, both misdemeanors.
