Mass Grave Unearthed In Backyard Of Juarez Stash House

JUAREZ, MX — Since the beginning of March, investigators in Juarez have unearthed the remains of 33 human bodies in the backyard of ahome.

The residence, located in the colonia de la cuesta neighborhood, was once a stash house. The mass grave was discovered in the backyard after an anonymous tip was made to police. The informant alleged that members of the Juarez drug trafficking cartel were responsible for the burials.

Officials said earth-moving machinery had to be used to excavate the area, indicating the scope and size of the mass grave. A red truck was seen leaving the property with bundles of blue tarp, while patrol units policed the area.

Forensics experts estimated some of the remains to be about 5 years old. Three of the sets of remains have been identified as those of women.
