Chico’s Tacos Closes East Side Restaurant

EL PASO — Chico’s Tacos workersconfirm their employer’slocation on McRae Boulevard is closed. Chico’s has just opened a new location on George Dieter Drive, though, on the Far East Side.

ABC 7 haslearned from an Ysleta ISD spokeswoman that the district had been leasing the McRae location to Chico’s.

Bernie Mora, managing partner of the Chico’s Restaurants, says after trying to work with severalYISD administrations throughout the years to buy the land,YISD just wasn’t interested in selling it.

Now, after 30 years, districtofficialsdecided not to renew theeatery’slease.

Mora saysChico’s looked for several years at other comparable options in the area, but had no luck. They decided to move farther east and open another “super store” similar to the Chicos on Montwood. The doors are now open at the newest Chico’s located at 1365 George Dieter.

Mora said all the employees from the McRae store are now working at the new Chico’s and he hopes all the McRae customers will follow.
