Bill Clinton Courts Superdelegates In California

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) – Former President Bill Clinton says Democrats upset about the deadlocked contest between his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Barack Obama should “chill out.”

Clinton is speaking at the California Democratic Party convention in San Jose. He came to California to court the superdelegates who are likely to settle the close contest. About a third of California’s 65 named delegates have yet to chose sides.

Clinton dismissed suggestions by Obama supporters that his wife was dividing the party by staying in the race even though she is behind in the delegate count. He said the vigorous debate would not divide the party.
