Contest Winner Says She Got Broken Prize

EL PASO, Texas -A young El Paso girl said she was ecstatic after finding out she won the first prize at an environmentally friendly fashion show; that is, until she picked up the prize.

Iridian Molina said she worked very hard to design a dress by using recyclable materials for a fashion show at the “Go Green” conference last year. But, she said she’s still waiting for the pay-out.

Six months ago Molina, a young local model, decided to enter the re-fashion show at the “Go Green” environmental and recycling expo. With her mom’s help she designed an outfit made entirely of plastic six-pack holders.

” A skirt, a blouse, a cape and a hat. I looked for some sponsors. I collected about 500 of those,”Iridian’s mother, Yanina Molina, said.

Molina won first prize, but Antonio Lopez of Sun Citytook a while to get her the prize.

“They told us she was going to get a computer. They didn’t say a new one a used one, but I assumed it was going to be a new computer,”Yaninasaid.

But, thecomputer was not only used, but also damaged.

“I took it to a technician and they told me that it was very old, it didn’t have a name tag and it had been dropped,”Yanina said.

Lopez, of Sun City Events, told an ABC-7producer he’d speak to us on camera, but then as the Molina’s say he did with them, he never returned our calls.

“Call me in a month, call me in a week, call me in 15 days. I kept calling him and the only thing he says is that he doesn’t have any money,” Yanina sazid.

Despite Lopez giving Molina the run-around she said she’s not giving up.ABC-7 won’t give up either. We’ll continue to call Sun City events and we’ll let you know what happens.
