AP Finds More Soldiers Living In Bad Conditions

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) – A spot check of military barracks by The Associated Press has found recurring problems with mold, mildew, plumbing, and wiring.

The Pentagon recently ordered that barracks be upgraded after video of some at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, appeared on YouTube.

But mold, mildew, bad plumbing and faulty wiring are just some of the problems uncovered at military barracks by Associated Press reporters. Ceilings and floors are falling apart as well in some of the World War II and Korean War-vintage housing.

Army Secretary Pete Geren says that the Army has appropriated 248 million dollars in emergency funds to fix problems found during inspections of 148,000 rooms at bases worldwide over the past two weeks.
