Race For City Council Seat Will Be Decided In A Run-Off Election June 7th

EL PASO — The race for the seat vacated by Alejandro Lozano — City Representative for District 3 — will go to a run-off.

Emma Acosta received 48% of the vote. Her closest competitor was Naomi Gonzalez with 28% of the vote.

County Election officials say Acosta and Gonzalez will have to face each other in a run-off election on June 7th because Acosta did not receive 50% of the vote.

“We’re in a very good position to pull a victory out,” said Gonzalez.

“I thank Jesus that I have 40-percent of the vote,” said Acosta, “thanks to my friends for being here and supporting me.”
