Feds Make Fourth Arrest In Border Patrol Smuggling Case

EL PASO, Texas – A total of four people now face federal charges in connection an alleged human smuggling ringABC-7hasbeen following for the last week.

Border Patrol Agent Jesus Miguel Huizar, Emeterio Sigala-Favela and Luis Carlos Chacon-Rubio, both Mexican nationals, were arrested last week and each charged with one count of human smuggling and one count of money laundering in the case.

AgentsarrestedRosa Isela Escajeda, 46,at her home on Monday in connection with ahighly-sophisticated network of stash-houses and bypassed-checkpoints that allegedly ushered more than a hundred immigrants illegally into the Uited States.

“This alien smuggling organization was very well-organized,” said ICE Public Affairs Officer Leticia Zamarripa. “There were players participating in the conspiracy that had a particular role in the network; Ms. Escajeda’s role included transport and harboring illegal aliens in her home.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents madethe arrest at the alleged stash-house at 308 Ronquillo in the Lower Valley.

According to the government, Escajeda allegedly lived at the house and used it to harbor many of the immigrants that were brought in by the so-called Jurado Human Smuggling Organization.

All four remain in federal custody; Escajeda is slated to go before a judge Tuesday afternoon.
