Gary Warner Appears On Strelzin’s ‘El Paso On The Move’

EL PASO — ABC-7 Anchor Gary Warner continued his farewell tour with a liveappearanceon KHROradio for Paul Trelzin’s “El Paso on the Move” Monday morning.

Gary — who got his first jobin brodcastingworking for a radio station in 1973 — will sign off as KVIA anchor Wednesday night. His career for El Paso’s flagship news station spanned 34 years.

Monday, he spent two hours chatting with Strelzin on the air. The topics ranged from his start in the business, to his long-time proffessional partner: Estela Casas.

“You can’t ask for a better professional partner. It’s at the point where we know not only how one another thinks, but we can pick upeach other’srhythm on the air,” said Gary.

Gary also said Estela has been remarkably consistent thorughout her entire career. His hair, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter. “It has gone from downright embarrassing in the 1970’s to thinning out,” he said.

Strelzin even asked Gary what it was like to work under KVIA General Manager Kevin Lovell.”Kevin and I have sort of an understanding, ” Gary said laughing, “He doesn’t bother me too much and Idon’t make any trouble for him … Kevin is a great guy andI don’t think people realize the job it is to manage a television or radio station.”
