Hundreds Line Up In Dallas Area For Free Gasoline Gift Cards

DALLAS (AP) – Hundreds of drivers in vehicles lined up for hours today as part of a $40 free gasoline card giveaway in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Some traffic delays were reported during the promotions at two gas stations — in Dallas and Grand Prairie — for the first 200 vehicles at each site.

The high cost of gasoline — topping $135 per barrel this week — has drawn complaints from consumers and reviews by Congress.

The Associated Press reports a number of drivers in line in Dallas included the elderly, the disabled and people who are unemployed.

Some drivers say they’d been in line for nearly 12 hours.

A disabled woman, Emma Thomas of Dallas, says it was a blessing to get the free gas because she says she can’t afford to pay for $40 worth of fuel on her own.

The giveaway — sponsored by Verizon Yellow Pages & Superpages.com — was held in 24 locations across the country.
