The Wall Street Journal reports on how Hudspeth Countyrancher Bill Addington refuses to comply with Department of Homeland Security demands that he tear down a rickety footbridge thatstretchesfrom his land across the Rio Grande into Mexico.

Inthe Wall Street Journal article, DHS authorities say the bridges make illegal entry into the U.S. easier.

But Addington maintains that “border life has a unique culture and rhythm,” and he “can’t stand to see it locked down behind steel fencing. Or cut off by destroying a footbridge.”
