Canutillo Motorcycle Chase Leads To Arrest

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested one man after a high-speed motorcycle chase Sunday evening.

Around 7:30pm Sunday, deputies were on patrol in the area of the 7200 Block of Doniphan in Canutillo. They spotted two sport bike motorcycles speeding southbound on Doniphan Road.

Both motorcyclists disregarded attempts by deputies to pull over and continued to travel at high speed, ignoring the safety of persons and property. According to deputies, several vehicles swerved to avoid striking the two motorcycles.

Authorities pursued the two motorcyclists for several miles, though one of the two eventually came to a stop at the 6800 Block of North Desert and dismounted his blue and white 2009 Suzuki motorcycle with his hands in the air. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Rene A. Vasquez-Pinon, was arrested without further incident.

Authorities charged Pinon-Vasquez with reckless driving as well asevading arrest with a motor vehicle and booked him into the El Paso County Detention Facility. He is currently out on bond.

The other motorcyclist managed to avoid capture and is described as a male wearing all black clothing, driving a black Suzuki motorcycle.
