October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Power of Pink Breast Cancer Survivor Project has announced a number of events that will be held in the Borderland:

October 1: Passionately Pink for the Cure: Businesses, religious/social groups, school, friends, and family pay $5 to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Komen for the Cure. 544-4433, www.passionatelypink.org

October 6: Largest Wreath in Texas to be hung for Breast Cancer Awareness, El Paso County Courthouse, 3rd Floor Gallery, 10:00am. For more information: 771-6305.

October 8: Fit For The Cure: 10:00am to 4:00pm at Dillard’s, Cielo Vista Mall. Professional bra fittings will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, $2 for each fitting. 544-4433.

October 9: Latina Breast Cancer Symposium on HER2, El Paso Community College Administrative Building, 9050 Viscount, ASC Building A, Auditorium 1. Call 1-866-631-6280 or visit www.herstory.com to register for this free presentation.

October 12: Cut for the Cure at Jacqui Hair Salon, 10:00am to 3:00pm. Haircuts and manicures to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For more information call 584-0011.

October 12: Pretty in Pink, Vista Hills Optimist Club, Cesar Chavez, 12:00pm. For information call 592-1170.

October 13: Fit for the Cure: 12:00am to 6:00pm at Dillards, Sunland Park Mall. Professional bra fittings will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

October 14 – 15: Mini Breast Fair, Del Sol Medical Center, 10301 Gateway West. For more information call 593-5108.

October 17: UTEP Women’s Volleyball Game vs. Marshall University at Memorial Gym, 7:00pm, benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For more information call 544-4433.
