Crews Detonate Explosive Shell Found Near Transmountain

EL PASO — Loop 375/Transmountain Road is open after an ordnance disposal crew detonated an explosive shell found by a hiker.

Three fire units were dispatched to Transmountain when a person found a “shell” while on a hike and contacted police about 10 a.m. Police contacted the Fort Bliss Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)Crew.

EOD detonated the shell at the bottom of a riverbedsince itcould be moved off the mountain.
