Wanted Suspect Allegedly Assaults Sheriff’s Deputy

EL PASO COUNTY, Texas — A man wanted on family violence charges allegedly assaulted deputies as they tried to arrest him, El Paso County Sheriff’s officials said.

Officials said about 4:40 p.m. Sunday, deputies looking for 24-year-old Luis Angel Gonzalez went to a home in the 13900 block of Montana. Gonzalez allegedly became aggressive and uncooperative, pushing away deputies as they tried to handcuff him. After a long struggle, Gonzalez was finally restrained and taken into custody.

A deputy sustained a head laceration as a result of the struggle. He was treated and released at the scene.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with assault on a public servant and resisting arrest.

Gonzalez was booked and remains at the El Paso County Detention Facility.
