JOBS AVAILABLE – by ABC-7 News Director Brenda De Anda-Swann
The big highway construction project known as the “Inner Loop” will soon get underway, and the contractor is hiring now.
J.D. Abrams is in charge of building the Spur 601 project, which will connect U.S. 54 to Loop 375.
The road will be more than seven miles long and will help deal with the challenges posed by growth at Fort Bliss.
The civil contractor is looking for:
-foremen
-crane operators
-concrete finishers
-form builders
-equipment operators
-mechanics
-oil and fuel servicers
The job fair is Saturday, March 7th from 8am-Noon at 16 Concord, suite G.
Concord Street is between Founders Blvd. and Butterfield Circle near the El Paso Airport.
According to the trade magazine “Construction Today,” the Spur 601 project is the first private pass-through finance transportation project in the U.S. The City of El Paso, TXDoT and the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority partnered with J.D. Abrams so the contractor would finance the project, allowing it to begin years earlier than the state’s typical pay-as-you-go financing would have allowed.
The cost of the project is estimated at $237 million dollars. The State will pay Abrams back over time.
Construction of the Inner Loop is expected to finish by 2011.
