Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Five Teens In Desert Near Socorro SAC

EL PASO COUNTY, Texas — El Paso County Sheriff’sdeputies arrested five teenagers over the weekend in the desert area behind the Socorro Student Activities Complex.

While on patrol, deputies spotted a black Ford F-150 with six occupants appearing to be juveniles. Deputies attempted to stop the truck for trespassing on private property, sheriff’s officials said.

The driver continued to drive in circles in the desert until stopping just before the southwest entrance to the Socorro Activity Complex.

The driver, 19-year-old Kevin Dotson of the 5100 block of Chateau, was arrested for evading arrest with vehicle.

Four juveniles inside the truck were arrested for minor consumption of alcohol. A fifth juvenile was cited for minor consumption of alcohol and curfew violation and released to his mother, officials said.

“We will continue to intensify our patrols in this area during spring break and urge all juveniles and trespassers to stay away,” said El Paso County Sheriff’s spokesman Jesse Tovar in a news release.

An 18-year-old woman was wounded by gunfire in the area about two weeks ago.
