Crews Respond To Early Morning Fire In South Central El Paso

Crews from the El Paso Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Friday morning in south central El Paso.

According to EPFD spokesman Lt. Mario Hernandez, 15 units and over 50 firefighters responded to the blaze at the 2400 block of Texas around 12:23am.

First responders said heavy smoke and flames were coming from a warehouse that contained stack pallets, with the fire later being upgraded to a 2-alarm blaze.

Firefighters had to fight not only the flames but the winds, which helped sustain the fire. They were concerned about some apartments nearby because of the wind, but fortunately, those buildings did not suffer any fire damage.

Investigators from the Fire Marshals Office also responded to the fire, which was brought under control shortly after 1:00am.

The investigators, after looking at the scene, determined that improper electrical wiring caused the fire, which was ruled as accidental. They estimated total damage to the structure and its contents at more than $100,000.

The Red Cross responded to the blaze, but no firefighters or civilians were injured.
