Socorro Bulldogs Baseball Team Honored At State Capitol

AUSTIN, Texas — The state champion Socorro Bulldogs baseball team wasrecognizedwith special resolutions in the Texas Senate and House of RepresentativesonThursday.

The team will take a two-day tour of Austin hosted by State Sen. Eliot Shapleigh (D-ElPaso)and Rep. Chente Quintanilla (D-Dist. 75, El Paso).

The Bulldogswill also meet with Governor Rick Perry and Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst during their visit, and Shapleigh andQuintanilla willhost a banquet honoring the team at one of Austin’s local favorite restaurants.

The Socorro Bulldogs are the only El Paso team to win a state baseball championship since the 1949 Bowie Bears.

Shapleigh’s office raised the funds for the team to visit Austin.
