Man Accused Of Impersonating Firefighter Allegedly Tricked People Into Selling Him Uniform

By ABC-7 Reporter Ken Molestina

EL PASO, Texas – The man accused of impersonating an El Paso Fire fighter had even the people who sold him his uniforms duped into thinking he was legit according to the owner of Uniforms of Texas.

Hector Ayala said, “It bothers me because he kind of deceived us. For a year and half we thought he was a fire fighter.”

Ayala said Jaime Carreto would come in and out of his store already in a fire fighters uniform that he got somewhere else.

He said, “This guy was already dressed as a fireman, so we didn’t ask for his I.D.”

Ayala said they sold him official uniforms like, t-shirts, and jackets with his name and the El Paso Fire logo embroidered on it.

These new allegations now have Ayala tightening up on his protocols, and demanding anyone buying official uniforms show their departmental I.D.

An ABC-7 I team investigation revealed Carreto was dismissed from the Horizon City Fire Department only 3 months into his training.

An assistant chief there confirmed he was terminated after they had personnel issues with him. He never became a full and official member of that department or with the city of El Paso.
