New Details Arise In Las Cruces House Fire
The Las Cruces Police Department says a fire that tore through a house Tuesday morning caused $55,000 in damage.
The homeowner, in a call to dispatchers, said she had a candle that was lit, though at this time, authorities are saying the fire started due to an “undetermined accidental cause.”
No one was hurt in the house fire at 1918 Gladys Drive, but not all of the family’s pets survived the blaze. Four people lived in the home, but only one was inside at the time of the fire.
The homeowner escaped unharmed, but tried desperately to save her cats. Animal control officers saved one kitten who suffered smoke inhalation, but unfortunately, another died. A third cat remained unaccounted for as of Tuesday evening.
