Substitute Teacher Charged In Child Porn Case

A long-time Ysleta Independent School District substitute teacher in El Paso is facing child pornography charges after FBI agents allegedly found child pornography in his bedroom.

According to the FBI, they executed a search warrant by the Oakland county sheriff’s office in Michigan. Oakland county deputies issued the warrant for El Paso resident Alejandro “Alex” Fierro after they discovered a Michigan man had sent and received child pornography with the substitute teacher last year.

Fierro, a 31-year-old Lower Valley resident, is described as a very nice, respectful, disabled person. His neighbors said they’re shocked to hear of his arrest.

No one was at home when ABC-7 went to the home where he lives with his parents.

But neighbors told ABC-7 that the Fierros are a good, church-going family and that they can’t believe “Alex” has been arrested.

According to the FBI, Fierro suffers from epileptic seizures and he had not worked this year. YISD officials confirm that Fierro has worked with the district since 2003 as a substitute teacher. Specific schools he worked at were not made available.

Fierro is being held without bond.

A bond hearing is scheduled in federal court for Wednesday.
