Update: Police Arrest Three In Northeast Shooting
El Paso police have arrested tree men in connection with an early morning shooting at a Northeast restaurant.
Andres Rosales, 26, John Dang, 23, and Marco Morales, 35 have all been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity-aggravated assault. Morales has also been charged with one count of aggravated assault.
Northeast patrol officers responded to a shots fired call at 8:27 a.m. Friday morning.
Investigators say it started after Morales threatened a man inside the restaurant with a fork.
Moments later Morales — who was holding a knife, Rosales, Dang and 24-year-old man — not yet named — reportedly confronted another man.
Authorities say that man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Morales and the unnamed man.
According to police, the two continued to threaten the man holding the gun. That man ultimately shot one round that hit the 24-year-old in the eye.
The man who discharged the handgun possesses a a valid Texas concealed handgun carry license.
Authorities say struggle ensued after the weapon was discharged and an off-duty El Paso Fire Department fireman, who happened to be eating breakfast in the restaurant, was able to gain control of the weapon and remove it from the restaurant.
Police have not released the identites of either the man who was shot or the man who pulled the trigger.
The man who was shot in the eye was transported to University Medical Center for treatment. There were no other serious injuries reported from the incident.
Investigators say another arrest is likely in this case as the investigation continues.
