Local Substitute Teacher In Federal Court

An Ysleta Independent School District substitute teacher was in court Wednesday afternoon.

Alejandro Fierro had a bond hearing and could soon be out of jail.

The defendant often looked down and didn’t look at his family in the courtroom. His bond was set at $10,000.

Judge Richard Mesa set several restrictions on Fierro’s bond, including wearing a GPS monitoring device. Fierro will not be released from jail until the monitoring equipment is installed at his home.

The defendant agreed to not use a computer. Another restriction imposed is his curfew, which will be set at 9 p.m. Fierro will not be allowed to leave his house before 6 a.m.

A criminal complaint states police investigators collected evidence at Fierro’s home including several videos involving boys having sexual intercourse. The youngest was said to be 6 years old. The oldest was identified as 17 years old.

The substitute teacher was arrested at his home last week and accused of possessing and distributing child pornography.

El Paso police investigators and FBI agents executed the warrant in August.

According to the court documents, authorities found 38 images and 57 videos depicting child porn on Fierro’s computer hard drive.

The complaint states Fierro did confess to having child porn, but not emailing it to anyone.

It is not clear if any of the children in the videos are from El Paso.
