Father Of Accuser Speaks Out On Chavez Suicide

The man claiming to be the father of the girl who accused David Charles Chavez of rape said Chavez took the easy way out when he chose to kill himself rather than face the charges in a courtroom. El Paso police confirm the body of David Charles Chavez, El Paso’s former ethics commission chair was found in his back porch. Investigators believe the 63-year old shot himself. He had stepped down from his position as head of the ethics commission amid the allegations he repeatedly raped a female relative. The accuser’s father said, “I was truly, truly upset he stole justice from all os us”, after hearing of Chavez’s death. ABC-7 has chosen to conceal the identity of the accuser’s father in efforts to protect the family and the girls privacy. The girl who is now 15 years old told police she was raped for five years, and it began when she was 10. She also told investigators she is currently pregnant with Chavez’s child. The girl’s father said, “he didn’t wait for trial, he didn’t want to give us a chance to put it out and porove what he did”, about a day in court that will never happen.
