Las Cruces Men Charged with Kidnapping, Assaulting Teenager

Las Cruces Police have arrested and charged two men for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a teenager this past Sunday evening.

Andrew David Allison, 24, of the 1000 block of Elm Street, and Dominic C. Garcia, 21, of the 1600 block of Dogwood Street, were arrested Monday evening and both are charged with first-degree kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, bribery of a witness and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Las Cruces Police detectives learned that, starting at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, Allison, Garcia and the 17-year-old victim got together and began drinking beer and using cocaine at Allison’s apartment. At some point during the evening, detectives learned that Garcia allegedly forced the 17-year-old boy to remove his clothes and then threatened him with a pair of brass knuckles.

Garcia and Allison allegedly forced the boy to remain at the apartment and repeatedly threatened him with violence. The boy was finally allowed to leave the apartment at around 2 a.m. Monday but only after agreeing to wrestle Allison. The boy told detectives that, while wrestling Allison, he was choked to near un-consciousness.

The boy reported the incident Monday morning to a Las Cruces Police Department school resource officer.

Allison and Garcia are both being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bonds set at $70,000 each.
