Las Cruces Police Search for Man Attempting To Lure Girls

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to the identity of a man who has been seen trying to entice young girls at several public places.

Las Cruces Police learned that at approximately 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, a man in a red pickup drove by the Alma de Arte school at 402 Court Ave. and tried to persuade young girls to accompany him. The girls did not know the suspect and reported the incident to authorities.

Police have received reports within the past couple of weeks that possibly the same man was seen looking at girls at Camino Real Middle School and at White Sands Missile Range . And, in another report, witnesses described a similar-looking man using binoculars to watch girls at Frenger Park .

Witnesses have described the man as Hispanic, possibly in his 60’s, with a skinny to medium build and possibly sporting a mustache. Descriptions of the suspect’s vehicle have varied, but he may be driving a red pickup with faded paint or a newer-model gray pickup. In one instance he may have been in a black Honda Civic.

If you have any information on the identity of this suspect you are asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to LCTIPS (528477).

The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
