Man Allegedly Fires Rifle At Friends After Argument

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 20-year-old man Sunday morning after the man allegedly fired a rifle at friends after an argument.

Javier Navarro, of El Paso County, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

At about 5:20 a.m. Sunday, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 3700 block of Desert Storm in El Paso County in reference to a possible aggravated assault.

Deputies arrived minutes later and met with two male subjects who told authorities they were hanging out drinking with another male acquaintance of theirs when an argument ensued.

According to the complainants, to avoid any problems they transported their friend, Navarro, back to his residence and dropped him off. The two men saw Navarro enter his home and step back outside moments later.

The two men then drove off leaving the area. A couple of minutes later, the victims observed a Green 1996 GMC Sierra following them with Navarro driving it.

The men then heard a gun shot coming from Navarro’s vehicle which shattered the back window of the Chevy Blazer they were traveling in. The men pulled over exited their vehicle and took cover.

At that point, a second shot was heard coming from the direction of Navaroo’s vehicle. The men observed Navarro make a U -turn and drive off towards the direction of his residence on the 16300 block of Desert Storm.

Deputies went to Navarros residence where his vehicle was located. An immediate perimeter was set by on scene deputies. Navarro surrendered to authorities several minutes later and was taken into custody without incident. Deputies recovered an MS 1/30 rifle hidden in a shed outside of the residence.
