Fights, Thefts, Other Crimes Increase With UTEP-NMSU Game

The following activity occurred or was reported to state and local law enforcement agencies in conjunction with the ?UTEP vs. NMSU? football game on Saturday, September 18, 2010. These are the incidents and offenses in which police reports were generated.

The log is in reverse chronological order with the most recent reports listed at the top.

These are the reports that have been completed as of 0930 hours on Monday, 9-20-10. Any reports after this date/time will be on the regular UTEP PD Crime and Incident log for the current month.

Incident or Offense- Injured Person Time Reported- 9-20-10 / 0930 Time Occurred -9-18-10 / 1730 Location- Memorial Triangle Description – The El Paso Fire Medical Services mobile unit dropped off a report concerning a non-UTEP affiliated individual who was injured. He was treated on site but refused transport to a medical facility. Case Number- 10- 0501 Case Status -Closed

Incident or Offense -Injured Persons Time Reported – 9-20-10 / 0910 Time Occurred -9-18-10 / Between 1700 and 2300 Location – Stadium Description -The Pro-Action Medical Team dropped off reports concerning five (5) non-UTEP affiliated individuals who were injured. Four were treated and released; one was taken to Beaumont by Life Ambulance. Case Number- 10-0500 / 10-0499 / 10-0498 / 10-0497 / 10-0496 Case Status- Closed

Incident or Offense- Theft > $ 50 Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2330 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 2130 Location – Parking Lot P-9 Description – A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported the theft of a plastic folding table from his tailgate site. Case Number – 10-0495 Case Status – Open

Incident or Offense- Injured Person Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2212 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 2205 Location – 700 block of W. Rim Rd. Description – A non-UTEP affiliated individual was injured. The El Paso Fire Medical Services mobile unit responded for treatment. She refused transport to a medical facility. Case Number – 10-0482 Case Status – Closed

Incident or Offense- Injured Person Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2212 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 2210 Location – Holliday Hall Description – A non-UTEP affiliated individual was injured. She refused medical treatment. Case Number – 10-0494 Case Status – Closed

Incident or Offense- Burglary of Vehicle Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2140 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 2135 Location- Parking Lot R-5 Description- A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported an unattended and unsecured ice chest taken from the open bed of his pickup truck. Case Number- 10-0486 Case Status- Open

Incident or Offense- Criminal Mischief > $ 50 Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2140 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / Between 1500 and 2130 Location- Parking Lot IC-12 Description- A staff member reported unknown person(s) pushed over a UTEP owned golf cart causing some damage. Case Number- 10-0490 Case Status- Open

Incident or Offense- Criminal Mischief > $ 50 Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2140 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / Between 1500 and 2130 Location – Parking Lot P-2 Description – A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported her vehicle?s rear window was shattered while it was parked. No entry made into the vehicle. Case Number – 10-0493 Case Status – Open

Incident or Offense – Injured Person Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2100 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1730 Location – 400 block of Kerbey Description – A staff member was injured. She refused medical treatment. Case Number – 10-0481 Case Status – Closed

Incident or Offense- Burglary of Vehicle Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2045 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / Between 1400 and 1800 Location- Parking Lot IC-4 Description- A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported the theft of several items from his vehicle. Case Number- 10-0492 Case Status- Open

Incident or Offense- Eject Patrons Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2040 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / Between 1900 and 2040 Location – Stadium Description – Three (3) non-UTEP affiliated individuals were ejected from the stadium for various infractions of venue rules. Case Number – 10-0478 Case Status – Closed

Incident or Offense- Public Intoxication Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 2035 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 2035 Location – Press Box Lot Description – A State Trooper arrested a non-UTEP affiliated individual for intoxication. She was turned over to a UTEP PD officer. Case Number – 10-0476 Case Status – Arrest

Incident or Offense- Class A Assault Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1940 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1940 Location- Parking Lot P-2 Description- A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported he was punched by unknown assailants. He was also highly intoxicated. El Paso Fire Medical Services responded and transported him to Las Palmas. Case Number- 10-0485 Case Status- Open

Incident or Offense- Public Intoxication Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1920 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1920 Location – Stadium Description – A student and a non-UTEP affiliated individual were taken into the police office at the Stadium for intoxication. Case Number – 10-0475 Case Status – Arrests

Incident or Offense- Public Intoxication Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1833 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1833 Location – 900 block of W. University Description – An officer responded to a call of a subject down by the West Gate. Upon arrival, a non-UTEP affiliated individual was found passed out. Treated at the scene by the El Paso Fire Medical Services mobile unit Case Number – 10-0477 Case Status – Arrest

Incident or Offense- Public Intoxication Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1825 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1825 Location- 400 block of Kerbey Description- A State Trooper arrested a student for intoxication. The student was turned over to a UTEP PD officer. Case Number- 10-0473 Case Status- Arrest

Incident or Offense- Public Intoxication Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1813 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1813 Location – 300 block of W. University Ave. Description – An officer responded to a call of a subject down by the East Union. A student was found passed out. El Paso Fire Medical Services responded and transported him to Providence. Case Number – 10-0483 Case Status – Arrest

Incident or Offense- Resisting Arrest / Interference with Duties of a Police Officer Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1810 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1810 Location – Memorial Triangle Description – An officer responded to break up a fight in progress. As he tried to arrest one of the combatants, another individual attempted to interrupt the arrest. Two non-UTEP affiliated individuals were arrested. The officer suffered slight injury, he refused medical treatment. Case Number – 10-0474 / 10-0480 Case Status – Arrests

Incident or Offense- Aggravated Assault Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1800 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1800 Location- 400 block of Kerbey Description- A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported he was struck in the back of the head by a heavy object, possibly a can or bottle. He was treated by the El Paso Fire Medical Services mobile unit at the scene. He refused transport to a medical facility. Case Number- 10-0484 Case Status- Open

Incident or Offense- Class A Assault Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1800 Time Occurred – 9-18-10 / 1748 Location – 400 block of Kerbey Description – A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported he was struck in the face by an unidentified male suspect. He refused medical treatment. Case Number – 10-0489 Case Status – Open

Incident or Offense- Class A Assault Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1750 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1750 Location – Psychology Description – A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported he was struck in the face by an unidentified male suspect. He refused medical treatment. Case Number – 10-0491 Case Status – Open

Incident or Offense- Public Intoxication Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1740 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1740 Location- University @ Hawthorne Description- An officer responded to a disturbance by Administration and came upon a non-UTEP affiliated individual who was intoxicated and refusing commands to depart the area. Case Number- 10-0472 Case Status- Arrest

Incident or Offense- Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1730 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1730 Location – Memorial Triangle Description – An officer was out on a disturbance call when his had his prescription glasses knocked off and he was also subsequently struck in the head by a beer can. He refused medical treatment. Case Number – 10-0487 / 10-0479 Case Status – Open

Incident or Offense- Minors in Possession of Alcohol / Consumption of Alcohol by Minors Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1700 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / Between 1200 and 1700 Location – Campus wide Description – An EPPD / UTEP PD joint operation on inner campus resulted in 21 underage individuals (ten students and eleven non-UTEP affiliated individuals) found in possession of or consuming alcoholic beverages. Case Number – 10-0470 Case Status – Arrests

Incident or Offense- Possession of Alcohol by Minor Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1620 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1620 Location- Hawthorne @ University Description- An officer checked two individuals who had open containers of beer and they appeared under age. One student was found to be under 21. Case Number- 10- 0471 Case Status- Arrest

Incident or Offense- Non-Criminal Dispute Time Reported- 9-18-10 / 1208 Time Occurred- 9-18-10 / 1145 Location – 400 block of Circle Drive Description – A non-UTEP affiliated individual reported that she was saving a parking space by standing in said space. A vehicle approached and she and the driver exchanged words. She had to get out of the way so as to avoid being struck. The driver of vehicle was gone on arrival of an officer; the individual was also advised about the saving of parking spaces which is prohibited. Case Number 10-0469 Case Status Closed
