Traffic investigators said 20 year old Carlos Acosta failed to properly yield at a stop sign near the intersection, which led a Ford Ranger pick up truck to crash into Acosta’s 2008 Honda Prelude.

Carlos Acosta’s twin brother Cesar said he lost his best friend in the deadly wreck. “When I rushed to the accident scene I just saw he was unconscious and I knew it was going to be something bad, but I was just hoping for the best”.

Acosta was carrying two other passengers in his car at the time. Both were sent to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford pick up truck was not seriously injured.

“He had a big, big heart,” Cesar said of his brother Carlos. “He just got his dream car like a month ago, that Prelude. He just died in his dream car.”

Acosta was a student at UTEP studying psychology, but had ambitions of becoming a firefighter according to this brother. “That’s all he wanted to do was be successful in life,” said Cesar.

The brothers graduated from Hanks High School and have three older brothers. Cesar said life without his twin brother will be difficult. “I’ve never been alone, by myself, cause he’s always been there my whole 20 years and now that he’s not here it’s something I’m going to have to adapt to”.
